Overall we appreciated our stay and recommend. The bed was great, the breakfast was superb. Located in the leisure area.
had a good night, room was nice, was able to relax.
The staff were very accommodating , the room nice but the position for us regarding our son's school, perfect
We should have had 2 sets of towels, a heated towel rail would very useful as well. More treatments kept free in case of last minute bookings like ours. I was very disappointed not to be able to book anything. There was only one member of staff in the spa and he was busy with someone in the gym so I had to go and look for him after 15minutes of waiting...
The rooms are spacious. The location is very pretty and ideal to explore nearby attractions.
I was advised I could have an early check in however the room was not ready so I had to wait around. The receptionists seemed rather put out by this request. The bar was expensive for both food and drinks.
Staff were efficient and helpful as there was a problem with the room and this was sorted within 10 min. It makes a change from a Premier/Holiday Inn and the price was compettetive
Really friendly and helpful staff
We were there at the breakfast rush time so it took a while and we were in a hurry (but there was a very pleasant atmosphere).
It was in a convenient location and the staff were extremely helpful. The menu was varied but slightly expensive.
Excellent Spa, the staff very helpfull, and good food
1) Room needed refurbishment, 2) Bar area very basic, no atmosphere, 3) I did ask for an iron and ironing board 3 times, but it was never delivered.
Nice relaxed atmosphere. Friendly staff
They were playing Christmas music at breakfast........... In june
The hotel is in a lovely location.
Overall I was disappointed by the Clumber Park. I stayed on a Friday and Saturday night as I was attending a wedding nearby and thought I was treating myself to a bit of luxury while I was there. Whilst there is nothing really bad about the hotel, it certainly falls short of the special experience suggested on the website. My bed was terribly hard and uncomfortable, leaving me with an aching back for days after. Paint on the bathroom ceiling and bath panel was cracked and peeling. I wanted room service on my first night and found it was basically a pub menu and my meal arrived floating in a puddle of oil. At breakfast I would have expected some sort of option other than just the buffet (eggs benedict etc) but I couldn’t even get my own pot of tea – tea was carried around premade in flasks and I just had to catch the attention of a waitress if I wanted another cup. Robes had to be requested from the spa so when I arrived on the Friday evening, I couldn’t get a robe as the spa was shut. When I tried to then call down the following morning, I couldn’t get an answer at reception and gave up in the end – quite annoying as I was spending my morning getting ready for the wedding and it would have been nicer to have a robe to wander around in. If this was a cheap and cheerful place I wouldn’t have minded as these probably sound like picky points, but the hotel states it is: “a brand new retreat created to offer the ultimate pampering and relaxation experience” and gives the impression of offering a boutique style experience. I wouldn’t go back again as it certainly didn’t justify its prices.
Breakfast was nice
I booked the most expensive room but you wouldn't have thought it. Water should have been provided in the room but it wasn't. Also, robes were supposed to be provided ... again, they weren't.
The pool is nice, and the staff are friendly, if somewhat "off the mark" for what puts itself up as a spa hotel.Room service was effective even if very processed food.
Poor organisation - no ordered papers 2 days out of 3; pillows worst I've seen in a hotel - thin and worn; bedlinen old and though clean, felt "used"; no free wireless connection even tho' advertised as available in lobby; key malfunction 4 times; staff come across as friendly but not really with it; stains and worn carpets in corridors; broken fire door; damaged bath panel; strangely bare room - loads of space to fill but no armchair- also the chair provided at dressing table which was only workspace was too high so couldn't get knees under table; beer pumps not working on only visit to bar; building site in action during stay with one restaurant/bar closed; corridor paintwork shabby.
The pool, steam room & sauna
Lack of attention to detail, scruffy appearance of hotel.
the facilities were ok and everyone was really nice and helpful
The service we had during our resturant reservation was ver poor - far to busy and staff over stretched, items missing, failure to attend to the table re culterly and drinks and parts of the meal failing to turn up. we also booked this hotel for a spa weekend and spoke to the Hotel before booking however we when we called in december to make reservations for spa treatments they were already fully booked
Clumber Park run by the National Trust and not the hotel thankfully, was opposite the hotel.
We booked a double with a cot for our 11week old baby and arrived to find that the room (No. 69) was in the furthest section of the hotel from the reception area with several sets of stairs/steps and no way of getting the pram there with our baby in it. When we asked for an alternative room accessible with a pram, we were given a keycard for room 2, when we opened the door we found that there was someone in the shower and that the room wasn't in fact free. We then resorted to room 69 as no others were available and when we settled in we realised that some of the furniture was solied and that the bathroom was disgustingly filthy.
